Last summer I had the pleasure of working with Boston Pin-up model Rissa Beaux on her submission to The Heels For Combat Boots 2016 calendar and book.
Miss Beaux is also the New England Chapter District Director. I asked about her passion for the cause and she said
"To be totally honest, I am so passionate about Heels For Combat Boots because I was personally diagnosed with PTSD as a child and it has never truly left me. While my pain is no where near as serious as the pain felt by our men and women in uniform, I do have an understanding of the stigma surrounding it and the pain that it causes. If I can help ease the burden for someone with PTSD, TBI, or both then I will do everything that I can to help."
I also was curious why she had chosen her military theme to be US Marine Corps.
"I chose to represent the Marine Corps because of my personal connection to the branch. I have a few people in my family who have served in various branches of the military. However, my papa was a proud China Marine with a past that was just as colorful as his personality. I really wanted to pay tribute to his legacy as a Marine and also as a loving grandfather. What sealed the deal so to speak was that fact that my cousin is currently serving in the Marine Corps so I jumped at the opportunity to represent them when I got the chance. "
